Sixth Form Curriculum

We consider the sixth form years to be the perfect environment to encourage independence and aid transition into adulthood, which is why our College site is set away from our the main school and residential houses.

College provides students with a extra period of education in small-group settings (up to 10 per class), allowing them to continue developing their learning skills. Their education is underpinned and supported by intensive, integrated speech and language therapy and occupational therapy programmes.

We provide students with opportunities to:

  • Continue their academic studies, including studying for GCSEs and BTECs in some subjects
  • Improve their communicative abilities
  • Strengthen their learning skills
  • Raise their literacy and numeracy competences
  • Enjoy a variety of work and vocational experiences
  • Grow in personal and social maturity

The school’s curriculum and assessment systems have been carefully considered to celebrate each step forward that pupils make and identify any significant barriers. This approach is particularly well developed in relation to pupils’ speech and communication, where the school excels.
