Speech & Language Therapy School near Southampton

At St Catherine’s, we believe every child has their own unique set of talents & skills and are passionate about supporting them on their journey to discover their potential. We work with pupils who have speech, language and communications needs. We are the only day and residential school and therapy provider in the United Kingdom, located in the Isle of Wight, with ferry transport available from the nearby port city of Southampton.

In our 40 years of supporting students, we have seen parents fight tooth & nail to find the right support for their child – an environment where their child is understood, and feels like they fit in. We understand these young people, and the challenges and struggles they face. It is our job to help them discover the very best of who they are, and what they are capable of becoming. We work with young people aged from 9 years up to 25 years old and offer boarding at our three residential houses close by.

Our school is split into three separate programmes; firstly, your child will embark at our School (aged 9-16), followed by Sixth Form College, from 16 to 19, and finally, our Post-19 Provision support programme available until they are 25 years old. Students are given the necessary adaption and support required to learn the National Curriculum, with an individual programme agreed with each student. We use our beautiful, vibrant coastal setting and our dedicated staff to develop happy and confident individuals.

We are leaders in delivering integrated education, therapy, and residential & independence training for young people with speech, language and communication needs. It is our mission to provide a personalised level of support for each student, delivered within the framework of each child’s tailored plan. Our core values are all about building resilience, courage, respect and ambition within our students.

Within our three residential houses, St Christopher’s (school-age students), and St Anne’s and St Margaret’s (college students), each house includes single student bedrooms, a kitchen, recreational & communal areas, TV lounges, and areas for independent learning. Staff include Residential Managers, team leaders, and an individual ‘key worker’ for each student. Together, our team offers a multi-layered support system, providing a warm and supportive environment.

The atmosphere within St Catherine’s, both in terms of education and care is accepting, supportive and empowering. The provision is well thought of in the local area, and is an integral part of the community.
